Some aspects of the reaction πp → nπ+π at 11 GeV/c

Summary

In this paper we present an analysis of 1268 πp → nπ+π interactions obtained in the 1.5 m BNHBC and in the 2 m CERN HBC exposed at the CERN proton-synchrotron to a π beam of 11 GeV/c momentum. The total cross-section of this channel is evaluated to be σ=(0.7±0.1) mb, while the production cross-sections for the ρ0, f0 and g0 resonances are determined as\(\sigma _{\rho ^0 } = \left( {110 \pm 14} \right)\) μb,\(\sigma _{f^0 } = \left( {75 \pm 14} \right)\) μb,\(\sigma _{g^0 } = \left( {55 \pm 14} \right)\) μb. Some experimental behaviour of the π0 production is compared with the predictions of the OPE model with Dürr-Pilkuhn form factors, the OPE absorptive model, the Regge model and the absorptive Regge model.

Nel presente lavoro viene eseguita una analisi di 1268 interazioni ottenute nella BNHBC di 1.50 m e nella HBC di 2 m del CERN esposte al proto-sincrotrone del CERN ad un fascio di π di 11 GeV/c di impulso. La sezione d’urto totale di questo canale risulta σ=(0.7±0.1) mb, mentre le sezioni d’urto per le risonanze ρ0, f0 e g0 sono stimate rispettivamente\(\sigma _{\rho ^0 } = \left( {110 \pm 14} \right)\) μb,\(\sigma _{f^0 } = \left( {75 \pm 14} \right)\) μb e\(\sigma _{g^0 } = \left( {55 \pm 14} \right)\) μb. Alcune caratteristiche sperimentali della produzione di ρ0 vengono confrontate con le predizioni del modello OPE con fattori di forma di Dürr e Pilkuhn, del modello OPE assorbitivo, del modello di Regge e di una versione assorbitiva del modello di Regge.
