Two-time Green’s functions and collective effects in a Fermi system

Summary

A Fermi system with Coulomb interactions is studied with two time-retarded Green’s functions. A method of decoupling is proposed for obtaining collective effects and the thermodynamic potential. The plasmon damping for low temperatures is calculated, as well as the momentum dependence of the occupation number in general and its discontinuity across the Fermi surface in particular.
