Summary

A star of mass M and radiusr 0 is supposed to start radiating at timet 0. The zone of radiation extends tor=r 1 at a later instantt=t 1. The energy tensor for the radiation zone, describing the directed flow of radiation, is evaluated and a relativistic line-element representing the field of radiation forr 0rr 1 and correspondingt 0tt 1 is obtained. It is shown that certain quantitiesm,v 1,r 2 ρ, etc., are conserved in the field along a world-line of flow. Atr=r 0,t=t 0 and atr=r 1,t=t 1, the line-element reduces to Schwarzschild’s static form for a mass M. The conservation of energy is verified. The electro-magnetic potential K μ of this field has already been obtained elsewhere.
