Abstract

While development oflnconel 718 has continued unabated over the alloy’s long history, certain properties must still be improved to insure its application in components of the future. Melting innovations, thermomechanical processing, structural castings, powder metallurgy and alloy optimization are all areas of past refinement, and some of the research directions appear promising as work continues.
