Abstract

Adaptive control of a class of distributed-parameter systems is considered using the heuristic approach of separating identification and optimization. Both subproblems are solved using known optimization results. — In identification, the problem of cyclic identification is treated with respect to the choice of a suitable error-weighting function. — Features of the complete parameter-adaptive procedure are compared with results for state-adaptive algorithms known from literature. — As an application, adaptive control of a bubble-column fermenter producing single-cell protein is discussed in detail.
