Abstract
Based on the coupled wave theory, the TE01-HE11 mode conversion system has been designed and tested. The system is done in three steps. First, a smooth wall gradual TE01 mode bend with an arc radius 550-mm long is designed to satisfy the demands of the system. Second, a 595-mm-long waveguide converts TE01 mode to TM11 mode. Third, a 415.5-mm-long corrugated circular waveguide is designed to excite HE11 mode. The above designs are all verified by Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. The calculation shows that the transmission efficiency of the whole system is over 95 % at the frequency of 35 GHz. The calculations, the simulations, and the test results are in well agreement.
