Abstract.

We present a new construction for p-ary codes meeting the Plotkin bound, for any odd prime p, from any planar function on the additive group of GF(p a). We use the Coulter-Matthews planar functions with p=3 to construct new families of ternary cocyclic codes, and compute their dimensions for a≤6.
