Summary.
Some N-aminotriazines and -triazoles were treated with Preyssler’s anion as catalyst in acetic acid to afford the corresponding deaminated triazines and triazoles. The reaction is suggested to proceed via formation of N-nitrosamines with subsequent N–NO bond cleavage.
