  • Open benchmarks for assessment of process monitoring and fault diagnosis techniques: A review and critical analysis

    2022, Computers and Chemical Engineering
    Citation Excerpt :

CSTR models have been used to evaluate monitoring strategies related to dynamics (Huang et al., 2020), multimodality (Feital et al., 2013), non-Gaussianity (Peng et al., 2017) and others. It is noteworthy that specific CSTR models are popular in the process control community, but are not commonly used in process monitoring applications, such as the van der Vusse reactor (Aguilar-López et al., 2021; van de Vusse, 1964) and the Williams-Otto reactor (Gottu Mukkula and Engell, 2021; Williams and Otto, 1960). In particular, the work of Williams and Otto (1960) offers many possibilities for process monitoring studies, as it was proposed as a complete process plant model that could also be used as a benchmark for process monitoring.
