Abstract

The effects of tilt on the behaviour of capillary-compensated fourrecess plane hydrostatic thrust bearings were studied for conditions of no rotation. The Reynolds equation was solved by the finite difference method to obtain the pressure distribution. The dimensionless load, flow, stiffness and damping were obtained and plotted for a range of the tilt parameter for experimentally useful aspect ratios.
