Use of gray value distribution of run lengths for texture analysis

Abstract

Most of the texture measures based on run lengths use only the lengths of the runs and their distribution. We propose to use the gray value distribution of the runs to define two new features, viz., low gray level run emphasis (LGRE) and high gray level run emphasis (HGRE).
