The promising application of a β-glucosidase inhibitor in the postharvest management of Volvariella volvacea
2022, Postharvest Biology and TechnologyCitation Excerpt :The control treatment was carried out using 257 mL H2O solution. D-glucono-1,5-lactone (DGase) (MacklinCatalogue No: D810428), usually used as a coagulant of the traditional Chinese food tofu, is also a potent inhibitor of β-glucosidase (Deshpande et al., 1984; Reese et al., 1971). It was added to H2O to prepare a 300 μM DGase solution.
Influence of cellulase gene expression and cellulolytic activity on cellulose utilization in different Volvariella volvacea strains
2020, Scientia HorticulturaeCitation Excerpt :Besides, some nonionic surfactants can increase the yields of the enzymes cellulases, amylase, and xylanase in fungal cultures (Reese and Maguire, 1969). Nojirimycin and d-glucono-1,5-lactone are powerful inhibitors of glucosidases, but poor inhibitors of exo glucanases, endo-glucanases (Reese et al., 1971). The above studies have reminded us that the use of suitable inducers and the removal of inhibitors may greatly promote cellulase activity, thereby increasing the yield of V. volvacea.
Biochemical and structural analyses of a bacterial endo-β-1,2-glucanase reveal a new glycoside hydrolase family
2017, Journal of Biological ChemistryCitation Excerpt :During the purification from the cell extract of C. arvensicola, β-1,2-glucan-hydrolyzing activity was defined as the amount of released reducing ends (Glc equivalence) in ∼24 h based on a Glc standard curve. Endo-β-1,2-glucanase activity was analyzed by TLC in the presence of GDL, a known β-glucosidase inhibitor (42). The enzymatic reaction was carried out in the reaction mixture described above in the presence of 50 mm GDL, and an aliquot of the reaction mixture was analyzed by TLC.
