2011, Journal of Colloid and Interface ScienceCitation Excerpt :The important ability of surfactants to promote wetting of solids has been studied extensively and technologically for decades [1,2]. The wettability of the surface of solids depends on the amount of the adsorbed surfactants at water–air and solid–water interfaces and the orientation of their molecules in the surface layers [1–11]. Sometimes it is difficult to define the mechanism of adsorption at solid–water interface particularly in the case of high energetic hydrophilic solids such as quartz because of strong interactions of water molecules with their surface.
