Robust linear control of a bending molecular artificial muscle based on spin crossover molecules
2022, Sensors and Actuators A: PhysicalCitation Excerpt :Such actuator devices can be considered as artificial muscles if, by analogy with skeletal muscle, their change of dimension can be controlled in open-loop [1]. In particular, the development of Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite (IPMC) artificial muscles opened the way towards practical applications especially in biomedical devices [2–4] and micro-robotics [5–11]. However, whatever the chemical composition of multilayer bending actuators, their control remains a considerable problem due to the complex nature of physical phenomena occurring during the bending movements of their multilayer structure.
“Biomimetic-electrochemical-sensory-platform” for biomolecule free cocaine testing
2018, Materials Science and Engineering CCitation Excerpt :As for conjugated polymers (CPs), these structures are compatible with many biological molecules [7,8] and their useful features including electrical [9], electrochemical [10], optical [11], actuation [12] were exploited in to design and construct advanced materials for both long-term or short-term biomedical applications such as implants [13], regenerative medicine [14], diagnosis [15] as well as therapy [16]. Moreover, biological or synthetic biomaterials were used in conjunction with CPs as composite materials [17], blends [18] or copolymers of various structures [19], processed as film coatings [14a] or in nanoparticles [20], nanofibers [21], nanomembranes [22] or hydrogels forms [23]. One of the important features of CDs is the formation of an inclusion complex with a range of drugs in solution as well as in the solid state [24].
