Ng et al.27 investigated the effect of acute laryngitis on the perceptive and acoustic aerodynamic measures in 11 patients with acute laryngitis before and after 7 to 10 days and compared with normal individuals. The fundamental frequency was reduced in the patients with laryngitis, suggesting an increase in the mass of the vocal folds during the course of laryngitis.
