Abstract

A neutron interferometry experiment using longitudinally polarized neutrons was carried out to verify the scalar Aharonov-Bohm effect (SAB). The neutrons are polarized parallel to the applied pulsed magnetic field, precluding the presence of any classical torque to change the neutron polarization. The spatially uniform pulsed B-field exerts no force on the neutrons. Quantum mechanical phase shifts that can only be explained as SAB phase shifts are clearly observed.
