    The detailed flow chart of the study design is shown in Fig. 1. The inclusion criteria in our study were as followed: (1) patients with a newly diagnosis of epilepsy with unknown causes, which is in accordance with the 2017 International League Against Epilepsy Classification framework [19]; (2) patients lack a localized MRI lesion.
