Prevalence and risk factors associated with fatal adverse drug reactions among patients admitted at a Spanish teaching hospital

Highlights

  • The prevalence of drug-related deaths was 0.74% of hospital admissions, and 0.47% in the case of hospital-acquired drugs.

  • The risk factors associated with drug-related deaths were age, admission at the intensive care unit, and length of stay.

  • The AUC ROC value was 0.82 showing a good predictive potential for the risk factors studied.
