Clinical background

A previously well 45-year-old woman presented after a conscious collapse where her left leg gave way underneath her. There was no loss of consciousness with this episode and she was able to ultimately help herself up. She had a 4-week history of intermittent right-sided frontal headaches with a blurring of vision in her right eye. She had been otherwise well prior to this incident.

On examination she had mild papilloedema. There was no visual field defect or loss of visual acuity. Cranial nerve
