Location Information from the Cellular Network — an Overview

  • Published:
BT Technology Journal

Abstract

This paper looks at how location information can be used either on its own or integrated with other information sources to provide business advantage for companies. It describes how location information from GPS positioning can be used to supplement local knowledge in call centres to assist with the scheduling and deployment of people working remotely, and then also explains how location information can be obtained from a caller's handset and used to assist in finding their location and subsequently integrating this into a call centre application.
