Complexation of Diquat by a regiospecifically synthesised macrobicyclic receptor molecule

Abstract

An X-ray structural investigation has that the macrobicyclic host (1), synthesised regiospecifcally from3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (2) in eight steps, forms a deep red 1 : 1 crystalline complex with Diquat in which the quest dication is encapsulated by the host.
