New sulphinate and sulphonate complexes of Group 1 B metals

Abstract

New sulphinate and sulphonate complexes of the Group 1 B metals have been prepared. In the complexes [ML2(SO2Ph)](L = PPh3, M = Cu or Ag) the sulphinate ligand is bonded to the metal through oxygen, whilst in [AuL(SO2R)][L = PPh3, R = Ph; L = P(C6H11)3, R = Ph, Me, or Et] the ligand is bonded through sulphur. Sulphonate complexes of stoicheiometry [ML2(SO3Ph)](M = Cu, Ag, or Au) and [AuL(SO3Ph)] have been isolated. Infrared spectra and other physical data for the new complexes are reported.
