Nuclear quadrupole resonance studies (63,65Cu and 79,81Br) of binuclear copper(I) polyhalide anions
Abstract
The 63,65NQR spectra of several copper(I) polyhalide anions have been recorded, together with the 79,81Br NQR spectra for the bromides. A Zeeman 63Cu NQR spectrum of a single crystal of [NPr4]2[Cu2I4] yields the value of 0.262(1) for the asymmetry parameter with the field-gradient z axis perpendicular to the plane of the [Cu2I4]2– anion and the x axis along the terminal Cu–I bond. The results are discussed in terms of the electronic structure of these complexes.
