Faraday communications. An end to the search for the ground state of C84?

Abstract

Application of a simple symmetry rule for fullerene isomer distributions reveals that the 13C NMR pattern of C84 in uniquely consistent with a 2 : 1 thermodynamic mixture of isoenergetic D2 and D2d symmetry isomers.
