Steroid amines. Part III. 3-Aminoandrostane derivatives

Abstract

The ester group in 3β-tosyloxy-5α-androstan-17-one has been replaced with several aliphatic and heterocyclic secondary amines, to give 3α-amines. Reductive amination of 5α-androstan-, 5β-androstan-, or androst-4-en-3-ones afforded mixtures of 3α- and 3β-amines, the proportions varying according to the conditions employed.
