Conformational analysis of t-5-methyl-t-2-(trimethylsilyl)cyclohexan-R-ol and its derived esters

Abstract

The existence of significant σ–σ* interactions involving the C–Si bonding orbital and the C–O antibonding orbital, results in a strong preference for the diaxial conformation for the esters 6am.
