A periodically poled, planar waveguide in lithium niobate was used to generate 532 nm radiation at room temperature by continuous-wave frequency-doubling with a conversion efficiency of 5% per Wcm2. Quasi-phase-matching allowed generation of the second harmonic using the d33 nonlinear coefficient.
