Abstract

Effects of passage of subculture and several culture conditions, nutritional, hormonal and light conditions on 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) content were examined in callus of Stizolobium hassjoo PIPER and TRACY. The favourable conditions for DOPA accumulation were found to be suboptimal conditions for growth, i.e., low concentration of phosphate, low concentration of 2,4-D, high concentration of kinetin. Light promoted DOPA accumulation. The best condition for DOPA accumulation was discussed in relation to protein synthesis.
