Carbon-13 N.M.R. spectra of some 1-substituted azulenes

Abstract

The ¹³C n.m.r. spectra of 1-R-azulenes, where R = NO₂, CN, COCH₃, COCF₃, Br, OMe, OCOPh and NH₂, have been assigned by comparison with other aromatic systems and by consideration of C-H couplings in the fully coupled ¹³C spectra. Substituent chemical shifts were obtained for all carbons.
