Abstract

The quantum theory of the integrated absorption coefficient for the collision-induced far infrared rotation-translation spectrum of spherical top molecules is developed. The most general multipolar induction mechanism is considered. A spectral moment is also discussed. Applications are given for the molecules CH4, CD4, CF4 and SF6.
