The phonon dispersion curves of two rocksalt-structure uranium pnictides, USb and UAs, measured by neutron inelastic scattering, are presented. Both materials display marked anomalies in the disposition of certain branches, similar to those observed in some intermediate-valence compounds. The data are compared with the prediction of simple lattice dynamical models.
