Abstract

The total acoustic power radiated by a source is measured by integration of the square of the sound pressure over the surface of a sphere which is concentric with the source and has its surface in the far acoustic field. The squaring device is a Hall effect multiplier and the integrator is a high gain d.c. amplifier with capacitive feedback. Details of the source directivity may be recorded automatically as the power measurement is made.
