Abstract
Recent counts of faint galaxies are reviewed and intercompared. Applications to cosmology, the evolution of galaxies, and the distribution of luminous matter are discussed. The interpretation of the data requires a detailed understanding of the properties of faint galaxy images and the methods used to measure these images.
