Abstract

This note establishes two theorems for a spherically symmetric charged dust distribution. The first theorem states that the expansion (or contraction) of a spherically symmetric charged dust cannot be isotropic and the second theorem states that a static charge is unstable to perturbations, which do not destroy the spherical symmetry, and would eventually collapse.
