Abstract

Bulk samples of the intermetallic compounds Mg₃Bi₂ and Mg₃Sb₂ have been investigated experimentally using soft X-ray emission and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. The electronic band structure has been calculated using an extended Huckel technique. The results are discussed and critically compared with existing data on electrical conductivity and soft X-ray absorption.
