Abstract
The radio frequency size effect with a magnetic field parallel to the surface of the specimen has been used to determine mean free paths in indium. The phonon limited mean free path lp for carriers on the second zone surface was determined from the temperature dependence of the amplitude AT of the size effect. A cubic dependence of lp-1 on temperature was found. However, in some cases deviations from the expected behaviour of the amplitude in AT=a-bT-3, where a and b are constants, have been recorded. From the field position of the extremum of the peak near zero field, values of the carrier mean free path have been extracted. The preliminary results of both methods agree fairly well.
