Abstract

The significance of the mass formula of French et al. is investigated. It is shown that any relation of the type M=a+M0n(n+1) with different suitable choices of the constants a and M0 will give the masses of the baryons, provided gaps in several of the sequences are allowed, as has been done by French et al.
