Abstract

The Monte Carlo data of Hansen for the internal energy of the classical one-component plasma in the fluid state is found to satisfy accurately a simple functional form, UNkT=aΓ+bΓ14+c, for Γ>1. The fluid static energy is very close to the bcc lattice energy of the solid, and the fluid thermal energy varies as T34. Simple and accurate expressions for other thermodynamic functions for the plasma fluid are given.
