Abstract

We investigate spontaneous emission into an electromagnetically produced transparency of the form recently proposed [A. Imamoǧlu and S. E. Harris, Opt. Lett. 14, 1344 (1989)]. We show that the achievable radiation temperature (or brightness) at the transparency is much greater than the atomic temperature.
