One-magnon Raman scattering in a S=5/2 antiferromagnet

Abstract

We report the first observation of one-magnon Raman scattering in pure ${MnF}_{2}$ . The results for the magnon frequency and the integrated intensity over the temperature range 4 to 50 K are found to be in good agreement with theory. We deduce that quadratic magneto-optic coupling is small.
