Abstract

An efficient numerical scheme is presented to compute the response of piezoelectric composite materials with arbitrary complex microstructures. It makes use of fast Fourier transform to solve iteratively the coupled periodic Lippmann-Schwinger equations for a heterogeneous electroelastic medium. The method is assessed in the case of a two-phase composite by comparison with analytic solutions and finite-element results taken from the literature.
