Abstract

We evaluate the thermal properties of 40Ca and 90Zr with two different effective Hamiltonians in a mean-field approach. Observed differences in the results are traced to the dependence of thermal properties on the shell gap near the Fermi surface which varies with the choice of Hamiltonian.
