It is shown that all meson-baryon and meson-meson $\sigma$ terms which can be extracted from experiment can be reconciled with the (3, ¯3) chiral-symmetry-breaking scheme, $H^{\prime }=u_0+{\mathrm{cu}}_8$, provided that $c$ assumes the value $c\sim -1.0\mathrm{}$.
