Abstract

Frequency-dependent third and fourth moments of the Barkhausen signal from a soft amorphous ferromagnet are measured. The data indicate strong coupling between the power in different frequency bands. The sign of the time asymmetry of a third-order voltage correlation indicates that the high-frequency Barkhausen events, on average, systematically precede the low-frequency Barkhausen events. The results are inconsistent with several commonly employed models.
