Turbidity Measurements in SF6 Near Its Critical Point

Abstract

We have made precision measurements of the turbidity of SF6 near its critical point using an optical analog of the Wheatstone bridge. From the measurements we obtain values for the compressibility of κT=(1.39±0.19)(TTC)1.225±0.02=(1.18±0.16)×103×ε1.225±0.02atm, and for the correlation length of ξ=(72±11)(TTc)0.67±0.07=(1.5±0.23)ε0.67±0.07 Å.
