Evidence for $B \to ϕ ϕ K$

Abstract

We report evidence for the decay mode $B \to ϕ ϕ K$ based on an analysis of $78 {f b}^{- 1}$ of data collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. This is the first example of a $b \to s \bar{s} s \bar{s} s$ transition. The branching fraction for this decay is measured to be $B (B^{\pm} \to ϕ ϕ K^{\pm}) = ({2.6}_{- 0.9}^{+ 1.1} \pm 0.3) \times 10^{- 6}$ for a $ϕ ϕ$ invariant mass below $2.85 G e V / c^{2}$ . Results for other related charmonium decay modes are also reported.
