Abstract
A new simulation method for optical pulse distortion in macro-bends of single-mode optical fiber with coating layer is presented. The pulse distortion in macro-bends of standard single mode fibers are investigated theoretically, showing that the pulse distortion in macro-bends can make bit errors for optical communication systems with high bit rate. The simulation technique is validated by comparison with exact solution for macro-bend losses of standard single mode fiber.
