Abstract
Abstract A classification system based on the scheme of Christ (I960), Tennyson (1963), Heller (1970), and Christ & Clark (1977) has been applied to all known borate minerals. The primary divisions are based on the number of borate atoms in the borate anions (monoborates, diborates, tetraborates, etc.), with subdivisions related to the degree of polymerization of the individual borate units (neso-tetraborates, ino-tetraborates, phyllo-tetraborates, tecto-tetraborates). Further subdivisions are based on the detailed configurations of the borate anions
