Abstract
This study reports recent data on the distribution and breeding abundance of seven species of colonial birds on the coast of Peter the Great Bay, Sea of Japan. Over the past 30 years, three species of cormorants (great, Japanese, and pelagic cormorants), as well as the black-faced spoonbill, have significantly increased their numbers. The number of breeding pairs of gray heron and Chinese egret decreased, while the numbers of the little egret did not change.
