Abstract
The latent class structure is modified by requiring the number of latent classes to be equal to the number of keywords. This modification changes the latent structure to one that consists of matrices that are both symmetric and positive definite, therefore making a “computer solution” both possible and practical. The modified latent structure is derived, the numerical analysis considerations for a computer solution are presented, and an example illustrates the use of the latent class structure in both file organization and retrieval.

Incremental probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis for video retrieval
Recent research trends in Content-based Video Retrieval have shown topic models as an effective tool to deal with the semantic gap challenge. In this scenario, this paper has a dual target: (1) it is aimed at studying how the use of different topic ...
The sensitivity of latent Dirichlet allocation for information retrieval
ECMLPKDD'09: Proceedings of the 2009th European Conference on Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases - Volume Part IIIt has been shown that the use of topic models for Information retrieval provides an increase in precision when used in the appropriate form. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is a generative topic model that allows us to model documents using a ...
Structural topic model for latent topical structure analysis
HLT '11: Proceedings of the 49th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics: Human Language Technologies - Volume 1Topic models have been successfully applied to many document analysis tasks to discover topics embedded in text. However, existing topic models generally cannot capture the latent topical structures in documents. Since languages are intrinsically ...
